WIMI: Year in Review & Ahead in 2023

January 16, 2023

In 2023 we are excited to continue the course established last year while carving out new paths for the future. We’re looking forward to starting work on our goals for WiMI and even if we don’t hit 100% on every goal, whatever we accomplish will be a success because we will learn in the process and make use of that information to create a better future for the women in the Mechanical Industry.

One of my big goals is for us to hit 75 members by the end of 2023. To do that, I need your help. If each of us recruits just one member this year we can easily do that. It is that simple. Try to bring a colleague to every event!

Let’s carve new paths and enlarge our presence by adding to our membership. Think of the impact we can have on our industry if we do! Please do not hesitate to reach out and connect with us. With member input, we can find the paths that will have the greatest impact. Remember that whatever you do today will help set the course for tomorrow, so think strategically and plan for success.

As we plan events for 2023, I can’t help but reflect on what an amazing year 2022 was for our WiMI group. From the quality of our Leadership Summit and networking happy hours to the family float down the river and the community service project IThrive that we support, we have made so many strides toward making the mechanical industry a more equitable place for all.

Our Leadership Summit was nothing short of a success. With an outstanding roundtable discussion with Kori Gormly-Huppert and inspiring keynote speakers, I left feeling energized and inspired. We heard wonderful things about this year’s summit, and we listened to your feedback and are planning on how we can improve for next year.

Our newly installed committee members have been working on additional events for 2023, including our 2nd Annual Leadership Summit in the Spring.  With our local MCAA’s guidance and support, we are sure to have an exciting and memorable year, full of progress and new ideas. Additionally, the 3rd Annual WiMI conference is scheduled for June 12-14, 2023, in Nashville, TN.

If you have any general WiMI questions or just want to say hi, you can reach me at egeiling@jpgservicesinc.com or Nichelle Lenhardt at nlenhardt@mcamw.org. We also have a membership survey going out soon. By taking a few minutes to fill it out, you are guiding our group as we plan out our next year. Check your emails for the survey.

Thank you for allowing me to lead us through 2022 as Chair of MCAMW’s WiMI.

I am looking forward to making the most of the next 365 days!

With appreciation, Ellen Geiling
