MCA of Metropolitan Washington participates in National Rebuilding Together Day

April 29, 2019

On Saturday, April 27th, the MCA of Metropolitan Washington participated for their second year in the National Rebuilding Together Day with Rebuilding Together DC • Alexandria. Our volunteer group consisted of MCAMW Member contractors from Crockett Facilities Services, Inc., JPG Plumbing & Mechanical Services, Inc., Southland Industries, Limbach Company, Milwaukee Tool, and H&B Engineered Products.

Our home was one of 41 homes being repaired throughout Washington D.C. and Alexandria, VA. Additionally, our volunteers were among the 700+ volunteers donating their time and effort to help during this day. Saturday was part of an even bigger initiative, where 10,000 homes were being repaired with the help of over 450,000 volunteers across the country!

Rebuilding Together DC • Alexandria creates healthy neighborhoods for the residents by maintaining affordable housing, revitalizing community spaces, and creating homeownership opportunities.

Rebuilding Together DC • Alexandria was established in 1986, and during that time, we have:

  • Served households with average annual income of just $31,116. Nationally, there are 25.4 million low-income homeowners, 11.8 million of whom are elderly (Census 2012).
  • Recruited more than 28,000 volunteers, who have worked on more than 2,200 projects.
  • Leveraged $8.8 million worth of in-kind value to the Alexandria community.

Though we provide repair services year round, many volunteer projects take place on National Rebuilding Day in April. Annually, 1,000+ volunteers donated $350,000+ in manual labor and materials to Alexandria’s neediest.
